  • University Innovation and Adaptability to Covid-19– Cavendish University Uganda is one of the few universities in Uganda that did not completely shut down during the COVID-19 lockdown due to its advanced ability to function remotely using technology enabled systems.
  • CUU was able to demonstrate its capabilities, leadership and systematic plans for digital education, most of which the university had put in place well in advance to meet the evolving needs of today’s lifestyles, only made more urgent by the COVID-19 environment. CUU had in 2017 installed an innovative, highly interactive and smoothly functioning teaching and learning platform for its distance learning students.

  • Cavendish University Students create Employment Hub that connects Job Seekers to Employers
  • A team of Cavendish University students founded an initiative to come up with a revolutionary solution to the growing unemployment levels within the country, particularly among the youth.
  • With their platform, ‘Waape,’ they have developed an algorithm that can effectively and objectively match job seekers to employers providing working opportunities through them.
  • Their solution focuses on connecting people to opportunities not based on their transcripts or experience but based off other dynamics like learning ability, communication, accountability and commitment amongst others.

  • AIME Golden Ticket Membership-Cavendish University Uganda student, Shyaka Lwanyaaga, wins AIME Golden Ticket membership. AIME’s goal is to bridge the gap between low income and high income high school students by providing mentoring services to them in the hope that these young persons will gain a university education, just like their wealthier counterparts. Shyaka was selected to represent AIME for 3 years and 3 months.

  • Public Taxi App- Public Taxi Uganda, an application developed by Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) students qualified for the 2019 Hult Prize Regional Summit and was in the running for a $1 million prize. The App is an innovation designed to improve safety and security of communal taxi users in the country.
  • The brains behind this innovation were four Cavendish University students led by Kenneth Muhereza, who was under the Faculty of Science and Technology and on the Distance Learning Programme. Over 40 university teams across the globe qualified for the Regional finals in Nairobi, and Africa was represented by 4 universities which included; Cavendish University Uganda, Kabale University, Makerere University and International University of East Africa.
